U.S. Border Patrol agents discovered 18 migrants while conducting train inspections near Hebbronville.

The incident occurred on Aug. 29, when Hebbronville Station agents apprehend multiple individuals attempting to hide on train rail cars as they traveled further into the United States.

Agents said they found the migrants after conducting an inspection of an eastbound train near Hebbronville. The individuals were from the countries of Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Mexico.

“This dangerous method of traveling further into the United States after illegal entry is strongly discouraged as it often results in serious injury or death. Many times, migrants who choose this method of transportation don’t realize the consequences of their actions until it is too late. In this case fortunately, agents detected the individuals before any fell victim to serious injuries,” Border Patrol said in a statement.
