Taliban executions, beheadings in Afghanistan strike fear among those stuck inside country
The US embassy in Kabul said it has received reports that Taliban members were executing surrendering Afghan troops
By Michael Ruiz | Fox News

Afghan citizens face executions, forced marriages and other possible war crimes as the Taliban sweeps across the country, wrestling control from ineffective government forces as the U.S. troop withdrawal nears, according to U.S. officials and watchdog groups.

The militants have seized territory at an alarming rate while Afghan government troops and their allied militias fail to put up an effective resistance – surrendering at times without even putting up a fight.

The U.S. embassy in Kabul said Wednesday that it was receiving reports that Taliban members were executing surrendering Afghan troops and unlawfully detaining some members of the government, including military leaders, provincial officials and police officers.

  • WE are NOT ok!
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Ya think?

What happened to the "good old days" when all Afghans had to worry about was Bile Clinton launching cruise missiles at aspirin factories whenever he got caught with his pants down?

TFB.  They had 20 years to prepare.  Would 21 have done the trick?   :rolling:

Most of the people are peasants, and all they will ever be are peasants. They are in charge of nothing, and they don't have the means to prepare for anything. Other than try to hide when they hear shooting, that is.

All they have ever known are warlords and their Mullah accomplices, and the only chance for their children to progress in life is to go to work for one or the other.

I do have sympathy for them, but not much. When you are resigned to being a slave,a slave is all you will ever be.

I do have a great deal of sympathy for the locals and the families of those who were so naieve they supported and worked with US forces, though.

Ayup.  And thanks to the decision by Biteme/Blinken to seal off the Embassy from US Citizens, Americans will be under the same Machetes that will be used on the "collaborators."

This has the potential of causing the rest of the Sloe Joe Potemkin President to be exposed to even the blindest Socialist Democrat (hey, I can dream, right?).  This is a blunder of a scale never seen before.

I hadn't heard about that, but nobody will care if they are former GI's working for contract companies. It probably won't even be reported.

With any luck at all,a few will be the air-head Peace Corps type of yuppie from wealthy familes, and IF that is true, the Biden will hit the fan when that is reported.

Like SneakyPete replied, I hadn't heard of this.

I sense that how the harris-biden regime deals with Americans who have been "left behind" in Kabul (at the embassy and elsewhere) may have significantly more impact with the American people than the "fall" of Afghanistan itself, which was inevitable and to be expected (sooner or later).

Will the taliban "make examples" of them...?

This wouldn't be happening if we'd been able to go after the Taliban like we should have.

There was no alternative to sterilizing the menace, and Dubya dropped that ball.

Not gonna put the blame all on him.  There should have...should have been given the permission to go into Pakistan and continue to pursue OBL and the rest of the Taliban into their winter camps where they year after year would resupply recruit and retrain for the next "fighting season" which occurred when the snows melted in the Khyber Pass every spring.

And as I pointed out in another thread:

After the Taliban lost control of the country in 2001...they still maintained shadow governments in each province and town.  There were shadow governors, cops and even shadow judges and prisons...all run by the Taliban.

Our efforts never really focused on eliminating these shadow governments that were instrumental in suppressing morale and the initiative for locals to help us.

Under Biden when we started leaving our bases in the middle of the night...and there was a void in leadership...these shadow Taliban governing officials came out of the shadows and literally greased the skids for what we've all seen unfold in the last 10 days in the country.

I think Dubya knew where Osama was, and didn't put a cap in his ass because he wanted to keep a good war going.  I'm effin' cynical about that.

There was an alternative.  And 'W' followed it to the end of his term.  It achieved exactly what it was intended to accomplish.  And it was subsequently abandoned in 2009.

We had him pinned down in the caves in Tora Bora and he got away.  But because the US mistakenly thought that Pakistan was effectively guarding the border area, NATO allies refused to allow the use of air-dropped GATOR mines, which might have kept bin Laden and his forces inside the Tora Bora area, and over-reliance on native Afghan military forces as the main force deployed against bin Laden and his fighters. And because the battle took place over the holy religious month of Ramadan, the Afghan forces would leave the battlefield in the evenings to break fast, giving al-Qaeda a chance to regroup, reposition, or escape.

And because of that...it took another 10 years to find him living in a neighborhood of retired Pac army generals.

I saw a documentary/interview given by Colin Powell.  He had advised H. Bush to go all the way in to Bagdhad and he refused. That was a mistake.

The ONLY reasons Boy Jorge put troops in Shitstainistan is because his Saudi boyfriend asked him to,and because he wanted to look tough on "terroristics" for the upcoming election. Can't remember if the Saud he liked swapping spit with was a prince or even the king, but he was definitely high up in the Royal Family. Boy Jorge even ordered US authorities to allow them to fly out of the US without being searched after 9-11. I understand he was singing "Don't it make your brown eye Blue?" just before making the call.
