Tony Bennett: Legendary singer retires from stage aged 95

Veteran US singer Tony Bennett has retired from performing at the age of 95, his son and manager has said.

Bennett performed two sold-out shows with Lady Gaga at New York's Radio City Music Hall last week.

His son Danny said the "hard decision" to cancel the remaining 2021 tour dates had been made on "doctors' orders".

"Doing concerts now is just too much for him," he said. "We don't want him to fall on stage, for instance - something as simple as that.

"We're not worried about him being able to sing. We are worried, from a physical standpoint... about human nature. Tony's 95."

I've read elsewhere—I can't find it right now—that the lockdowns worsened his Alzheimer's as well. Though he still remembers all the lyrics to his songs, it's his short-term memory that is fading. (Which leads me to think it might be some other form of dementia.)

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-

@jmyrlefuller

He's 95. He doesn't have the blood flow he used to have. NOBODY is as sharp at 95 as they were at 65. Nobody.

And given the lifestyle he had when younger,and all the touring he did,it's amazing he is even still alive.

I do. Anthony Benedetto. A pretty straightforward Italian name (which shouldn't surprise anyone since he came from an Italian family.)

I had no idea that he and Gaga performed so many times together. Quite a strange combination.

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
