Nagasaki bombed 76 years ago: Know its history and significance
Atomic cloud over Nagasaki from Koyagi-jima by Hiromichi Matsuda. (Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum/Released)
August 09, 2021 Amit Chaturvedi - Hindustan Times

Japan’s Nagasaki on Monday marked the 76th anniversary of the US atomic bombing. On August 9, 1945, the United States dropped the second nuclear bomb on Nagasaki, three days after Hiroshima was destroyed by the first one — a uranium bomb- ‘Little Boy’.

In his speech at the Nagasaki Peace Park on Monday, Nagasaki mayor Tomihisa Taue urged Japan, the United States and Russia to do more to eliminate nuclear weapons. He urged Japan to take the lead in creating a nuclear-free zone in Northeast Asia.

Hitler killed himself some 3 months earlier.  Suppose he hadn't and was still fighting.  Where would Truman have used the bomb, Japan or Germany? :pondering:

Probably Japan.  Their warriors were insane, and that promised to be the bloodier battle.

Most likely Japan.  As Cyber Liberty said, it promised to be the bloodier battle.  Also, even when Hitler was still alive, cracks were beginning to show in the Nazi regime, and if Hitler had survived - including surviving the Soviet onslaught - he would most likely have gotten the Mussolini sooner rather than later.  There were no such similar cracks in the facade of the Japanese empire or its people.

Since Germany was almost totally overrun - including Berlin, where Hitler was trapped - by the time Hitler killed himself, the bomb wouldn't have been used in Germany. OTOH, Japan was hundreds of miles from the nearest US-held territory, was still fighting like Hell, and invading one of the Japanese main islands was going to be on the same or a larger scale than Normandy, with the likelihood of far greater casualties. Then there were the hundreds of thousands of Allied POWs in Japanese hands who were cut off from food supplies (ignoring Japanese brutality).

I doubt Truman took very long to decide to drop "The Bomb".
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

The people of the city of Kokura were never more grateful for a little cloud cover.

On the other hand, Nagasaki was the most catholic city in Japan.

I believe the Empire of Japan did not abide by the Geneva Conventions in its conduct of the war.

No one made Japan bomb Pearl Harbor and conduct the Bataan Death March.

Japan wanted total war, so we gave it to them.

Yes, and the Germans were all for Total War as well, the V2 being the premier terror weapon.

If we hadn't have nuked Japan, I would not even exist.  My Dad was going to be among the first Sailors to drop Marines off on the mainland of Japan.  Imagine his relief when he want from facing certain death, to the War is over.

Japan for sure, unlike the Germans the Japanese, down to the children, were religious fanatics who believed Hirohito to be a living god and would have fought to the death for him. As it was it took dropping a second bomb to force the surrender, the cost in live without dropping the bombs would have been astronomical. https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-atomic-bomb-saved-millionsincluding-japanese-11596663957
