US Soldiers Inside Missile-Showered Base Still Dealing with Trauma 1.5 Years After Iran's “Sci-Fi Movie-Like” Attack

TEHRAN (FNA)- American troops that were sheltered at Ein Al-Assad Airbase in Western Iraq are still feeling the effects from Iranian ballistic missiles more than 18 month after the Tehran's operation in revenge for Assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

On January 8, 2020, just days after assassination of Tehran's legendary anti-terror commander at the direct order of then-President Donald Trump, Ein Al-Assad, which houses US troops in Al-Anbar province, found itself under fire from volleys of ballistic missiles launched from Iran, which considered as the largest ballistic missile attack against Americans in history.

Now, over a year and a half later, the side effects from the blast still linger for several American troops who were stationed at the Iraqi base at the time of the missile operation conducted by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

In an interview with CBS News, US Army Major Alan Johnson, who was stationed at Ein Al-Assad Airbase along with nearly 2,000 other service men and women at the time of Tehran's retaliatory operation, stated the missile attack “knocked the wind” out of him.
