Pelosi Pulls Rank On Biden, Says He Doesn’t Have The Power To Cancel Student Debt

Speaker of the House and Democratic California Rep. Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that President Joe Biden does not have the power to cancel student loan debt.

“People think that the President of the United States has the power for debt forgiveness. He does not. He can postpone. He can delay. But he does not have that power. That has to be an act of Congress,” Pelosi said during a Wednesday press conference at the Capitol.

Wife has a shitton in student debt, frankly we'd do well if it was cancelled.

I've never been in favor of it though, because it's unfair to other people.

She is on the IBR plan, and we expect to pay a massive IRS bill when it's all done.

Not everyone makes good decisions when they're 18.

If he has the power to extend it...he effectively has the power to end it. He could just postpone payments until 2099 if he wanted to work around "Nancy" power.

That said, this is a bad idea. A very bad idea.

If you want to know more about the perils of wide scale debt forgiveness, look to the late Roman Republic and the chaos it created...along with debasing of the currency. The fall of THAT Republic looks eerily similar to the fall of THIS Republic.
