The group of Democratic Texas legislators who fled the state for Washington, D.C., to block Republicans from proceeding on an election integrity bill is now requesting “care packages.”

“Our Dems in DC said they’d appreciate care packages from home. Before 5pm Tues, we’re collecting Dr. Pepper, salsa, hard candy, hairspray, travel toiletries, hand sanitizers, sewing kits, first aid, and/ or $ to pay shipping. TY!” the account for the Dallas County Democratic Party tweeted.

These same Democrats are collecting a $200 per diem from the State of Texas while someone else is paying their luxury hotel bills.  In other words, they are actually making money sitting in Washington doing nothing.  On top of their regular salaries, the per diem kicks in an additional $6,000 per month, tax free.

I was wondering how they could afford this..no wonder they aren't in a hurry to get back..

Are we certain they get the per diem?

Am thinking that is only available if on official state business.  Since the only business in the legislature is in the special session currently underway, how can that be supported?

Beto O'Rourke, Willie Nelson financially back Texas Democrats in elections bill fight

Texas Democratic lawmakers who left the state earlier this week in an effort to block passage of a GOP elections bill are getting financial assistance from Willie Nelson and former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) as they advocate for voting rights in the nation’s capital.

According to the Dallas Morning News, O'Rourke, whose national profile soared in 2018 as he campaigned to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), has helped raise more than $525,000 to cover the Texas Democratic legislators' expenses during their stay in Washington, D.C.

Nelson has also donated $5,000 to the cause, the paper reports, while encouraging others to donate.

The legislators also get $221 per diem while the legislature is in session.

Democrat Texas State Rep. Armando Walle said the Democrats in D.C. will cost around $1.5 million. The private planes alone cost $100,000.

They claim no one has used taxpayer money, but how did the House Democratic Caucus and other Democratic caucuses get that money?

From the taxpayer in some form! So, yes, they are using taxpayer money to fund their stunt.

Also, six of them tested positive for COVID-19.

Now they want you to send them free stuff.

Have a heart and send these poor bastards what they need, start a movement to collect and send them authentic Texas cow pies so they can feel at home even when far afield in DC. Do this for them and I guarantee that good deed will in turn bring a smile to your face and be your happy thought.
