We began by choosing Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe.
Two centuries later, our choices were Bush, Clinton, Obama, Trump and Biden.

Nation/states receive the leadership they tolerate, then choose.
Decline commences from below w/loss of vision and values; later fall
occurs, from the top down, w/the disintegration of the moral order, the
adhesive that bonds the disparate elements of culture/society.
