Yesterday a Catholic new site called the Pillar published a story which resulted in the resignation of Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill, the General Secretary of the US Conference of Bishops. Here’s what the Pillar reported:

Quote
A priest of the Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin, he began to work at the bishops’ conference as associate general secretary in February 2016. In that capacity, the priest was charged with helping to coordinate the U.S. bishops’ response to the Church’s 2018 sexual abuse and coercion scandals.

But an analysis of app data signals correlated to Burrill’s mobile device shows the priest also visited gay bars and private residences while using a location-based hookup app in numerous cities from 2018 to 2020, even while traveling on assignment for the U.S. bishops’ conference.

According to commercially available records of app signal data obtained by The Pillar, a mobile device correlated to Burrill emitted app data signals from the location-based hookup app Grindr on a near-daily basis during parts of 2018, 2019, and 2020 — at both his USCCB office and his USCCB-owned residence, as well as during USCCB meetings and events in other cities.

1. Unless The Pillar (whoever they are, their site lacks info about who/what they are) broke some law, He shouldn't have got caught! arguments are BS.

2. Since the Catholic Church professes to abide by the Bible's teaching, one such teaching is not  commiting fornication or adultery. Another is that spiritual leaders should be above reproach. Frequent visits to gay bars and use of the app Grindr is, at best, inconsistent with those teachings. And that he was, "helping to coordinate the U.S. bishops’ response to the Church’s 2018 sexual abuse and coercion scandals"?

The Catholic Church, as an organization, has a choice. They can root out the decades of past and continuing sexual abuse, or they can have stuff like this crammed down their throats, forcing them to throw out abusers. One option is less painful, organizationally and in terms of lay folks' responses.

Before anyone else points it out: 1. Sexual abuse is a human problem, not a Catholic problem; 2. Other denominations have problems and vulnerabilities that they also should be dealing with before hostile outsiders use those problems and vulnerabilities to attack them.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Arguably the wisest who ever walked this earth were the Ancient Greeks who asserted that the the Family Unit
of Father, Mother and Children were the foundation of civilization, culture & society, commencing at Eden.
As such, attitudes, behaviors, impulses and sentiments that harmed the Family Unit such as abortion, homosexuality,
transgenderism and related psychoses were forbidden and punished w/finality.
And these ideas predated Roman Catholicism by thousands of years.
Yet we, who insist we are the greatest, ignore the wisdom of Ancient Greece; then wail that somehow we have lost our way???

Are those different ancient Greeks from the Spartans who had institutionalized pederasty disguised as part of training adolescent boys to become warriors?

My generalization of the label "Ancient Greeks" was careless and for which I apologize.
That label belongs to Athens and her kindred city/states, which never included Sparta.
Wisdom was never part of the heritage/legacy of the latter.
