Bezos riding own rocket on company’s 1st flight with people

Quote

VAN HORN, Texas (AP) — Jeff Bezos is about to soar on his space travel company’s first flight with people on board.

The founder of Blue Origin as well as Amazon on Tuesday will become the second billionaire to ride his own rocket. He’ll launch from West Texas with his brother, an 18-year-old from the Netherlands and an 82-year-old female aviation pioneer from Texas — the youngest and oldest to ever hurtle off the planet.

Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket is set to blast off with its eclectic group of passengers on the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Bezos’ parents and other family members were on hand for the launch.

Bezos is aiming for an altitude of roughly 66 miles (106 kilometers), more than 10 miles (16 kilometers) higher than Richard Branson’s ride on July 11.

Dutch physics student, 18, who credits Thunderbirds for sparking his interest in rockets will become the youngest astronaut in space today after his equity boss father paid for his spot on Jeff Bezos' New Shepard rocket

Student Oliver Daemen, 18, has been passionate about space from a young age
'Ready to fly Into Space!' he wrote Monday alongside pictures of him in uniform
A physics student, Oliver is also recently gained a private pilot's license
On Tuesday, he will travel on Jeff Bezos' New Shephard commercial rocket
Also on board will be Bezos, his brother Mark and astronaut Wally Funk, 82
Oliver gained a spot on the flight thanks to his millionaire father's auction bid
He was originally due to go on the second flight but was bumped up after the anonymous winning bidder pulled out due to an undisclosed scheduling conflict

'Best day ever!': Jeff Bezos whoops and hollers as he safely returns to earth having successfully launched into space on board New Shepard rocket alongside his brother Mark, Wally Funk and lucky Dutch teen

Jeff Bezos became the richest astronaut after launching to space with Blue Origin on Tuesday, July 20
He blasted off in the autonomous rocket is from 'Launch Site One' in Van Horn, Texas at 09:12 EDT (14:12 BST)
The four passengers were Bezos, his brother Mark, Wally Funk, 82, and teenager Oliver Daemen, 18
Passengers spent four minutes floating in zero gravity in space before a soft return back to Earth
Funk, 82, who trained as a NASA astronaut in the 1960s but didn't launch, is now the oldest person in space
Daemen is an 18-year-old physics student from the Netherlands whose father paid for his flight
He only got the coveted seat because another man - who paid $28million for it - dropped out
Virgin Galactic founder Sir Richard Branson became the first billionaire founder astronaut of the space-set

And then he, Bezos' promptly rewarded the Communist, Van Jones One Hundred Million Dollars!

BTW: On fox news program "outnumbered" today, after they showed van Jones long winded acceptance speech, I almost Puked!

Kayleigh McEnany said that Van Jones  was really deserving of the award.
That he is a good friend and a fellow Christian!!

Not surprisingly, that part of the show can't be found anywhere!

Anyone else catch that part of the program?
