Lawmakers Pitch New Voting System for US Troops Stationed Overseas

A bipartisan group of lawmakers is seeking to increase the number of U.S. service members who exercise their right to vote -- especially those stationed in combat zones or deployed overseas.

Sens. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., and John Cornyn, R-Texas, introduced a bill Tuesday that would establish a secure electronic voting system for those assigned to hazardous duty stations or on a rotational deployment.

According to the senators, the fully auditable system would track votes from the time they are marked through the counting process.

If ANY democrat is involved, the bill probably has a provision something like all military votes must be first sent to the South Pole before all are forwarded to Palau for counting.  During the counting, all racist, white, conservative terrorist votes will be discarded.  Then they will be forwarded to the Pentagon to make sure there are no hidden messages in the votes. :tongue2:

secure electronic voting system

There is no such thing.  The only secure voting system is paper ballots accompanied by a photo ID check to verify that the ballot-caster is the person they say they are (and even then, there is still a small margin for fraud).
