Miami mayor blasts far-left silence on Cuban protests, says crisis exposes fallacy of socialism

Miami Republican Mayor Francis Suarez called out the far-left's silence over the pro-democracy protests in Cuba, which has been ruled by decades of Communist dictatorship, and told Fox News the latest unrest exposes the "false promise" of socialism.

Suarez, whose father Xavier was the city's first Cuban-born mayor, told "Your World" guest host Sandra Smith on Monday that it is unbelievable that anyone would fail to condemn Communist ideology.

"[It] has failed not just in Cuba but in the history of humanity—this is an ideology that promises to create equality. The only equality it has delivered is equal misery for all of its citizens in every country that its been tried," he said. "It's time for the United States to understand that. It's time for us to understand this could affect American cities if we're not careful."

Suarez added that socialism provides people a "false promise" and in practice means the government takes away peoples' property and freedoms.........................

Protests in Cuba die down, amid reports of dozens of people detained, arrested
Police officers in Cuba have arrested at least 100 protestors across the country.

Street protests in Cuba against the country's communist-socialist government over food shortages and other economic hardships died down Tuesday, amid reports of police detaining dozens of people and making over 100 arrests.

Thousands of residents started flooding the streets of 35 major Cuban cities starting Sunday, protesting against the government and creating the largest such demonstration in the country in over 30 years.

The government's response has also included police patrols around Cuba's capital city of Havana, the Associated Press reports.

The initially peaceful protest turned confrontational later Monday when police officers used tear gas on the protesters who marched along the streets of Havana and protestors threw cobblestone at the officers. The exchanges led to over 20 arrests, according to news reports.

The Cuban government, in a further attempt to stifle the protests, also reportedly slowed internet access and blocked several mainstream social media sites including Instagram and Facebook. Twitter however, was not blocked. ...

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

A truck crashed into the Louisville Metro Corrections building Tuesday afternoon, putting the jail on lockdown and blocking some streets as police were seen handcuffing the driver, according to officials.

The phrase "Patria y vida," meaning homeland and life in English, was spray painted on the side of the truck according to Metro Corrections Assistant Director Steve Durham. The phrase is a rallying cry critical of the Cuban government.

YIKES!

This is now officially out of hand, and Cuba is in the opening throes of another Revolution. It has now gone so far I just don't see things returning to "business as usual" there.

Anybody have any idea where the leadership is going to flee?

MY best GUESS is Russia, but even that is not certain.

Given the fact that the BLM leadership proudly states they are trained Marxists...this should come as no surprise.

@Hoodat

Yes,they are THAT freaking stoopid.

I can only imagine how the typical black must cringe when reading crap like that.

I don't feel sorry for them, though. If they don't like being lumped in with the retards, they need to speak the hell up and let people know that not ALL blacks are that freaking stupid.

As long as they remain silent, prejudice against blacks can only increase, and the longer they wait to speak up,the worse it is going to get for all of them.

No such critter as a "trained Marxist". Retardation isn't a learned disability.

Success may depend upon how many arms remain in the hands of Cubans.

Like any totalitarian regime, firearms  were taken, at least the ones found.

I beg to differ - our public schools teach only that one subject these days.

I suspect that by now quite a few have been dug up out of backyards, and more than a few have been taken from Cuban military sources.

If this keeps up another week, there will probably be more than a few Cuban soldiers deserting and taking their weapons with them to join the fight to overthrown the dictators.

Once these things go on this long and get this big,it's hard for the authorities to put the cork back in the bottle.

Maybe not. It is an island with strict governmental control of resources, and not much chance of developing alternatives. They have to be a net import country... So shut off the spigots and let em starve, which is what they do there.

What would matter is establishing a beachhead and a decent relationship with the smugglers... Which opens a plausibly deniable vector for arms and supplies from friendlies, like Cuban Americans, and possibly Republican administrations, when available.

That also means there are fewer places where the authorities can hide the food and other neccessities, and due to central planning, everybody on the island knows where the food is stored.

The Cubans have impeccably bad timing.  They should do this when a Republican is in office.

Bay of Pigs.  Kennedy betrays Cuban freedom fighters.

Mariel boat lift.  Carter assists Cuba in emptying their prisons of violent criminals, making more room to lock up political dissidents.

Elian Gonzales.  Mother makes ultimate sacrifice to give her child freedom.  Clinton returns child to totalitarian rule.

And then there's now.  US Democrat coup leader admires Cuban model, and blames US for the plight of the Cuban people.
