The US Navy’s new supercarrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) completed shock trials on Friday off the US East Coast. During these tests, the Navy sets off live explosives near the warship to simulate aspects of actual combat conditions. The bombs were so powerful that the even triggered a M3.9 earthquake off Daytona Beach.

The testing is designed to simulate aspects of real combat and test the hardness of the ship.
