The local tv stations featured Juneteenth festivities as a huge part of their news broadcasts. I'll bet two weeks ago only a tiny percent of Americans knew what the heck it was.
So for ten minutes viewers were presented with speakers (mostly black) who droned on about what a great thing it was. I guess they said great things because the wife and I had their screeds muted.
The thing is the local stations never do anything like this for president's day even though one of the presidents is Lincoln who was primarily responsible for freeing the slaves.
I would guess that there won't be anything on the news about all the shootings and killings that took place on Juneteenth as it does every day in certain areas of the country.
