Tropical Weather Update 17 Jun 2021
« on: June 17, 2021, 08:42:32 pm »
Claudette forming in the next 12-24 hr?  As you can see below there is pretty strong evidence that there is a full circle of circulation trying to form around a significant amount of convection about the 24N 90W coordinates.  I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the NHC announces a depression at their 4:00 p.m. CDT briefing. Modeling has most clustering around a Morgan City landfall at a strength of 45-50kt. i.e Tropical Storm strength.  Still very early on, so much will likely change

Tropical Weather Outlook
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
200 PM EDT Thu Jun 17 2021

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

Cloudiness and thunderstorms associated with a broad area of low
pressure over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico have become a little
better organized today.  This system is expected to move generally
northward, and a tropical or subtropical depression is likely to
form over the west-central Gulf of Mexico tonight or early Friday.
A tropical storm warning will likely be required for a portion of
the northern Gulf Coast later this afternoon, and Potential Tropical
Cyclone advisories will likely be initiated on this system at 4 PM
CDT (2100 UTC).  An Air Force Reserve Unit reconnaissance aircraft
is en route to investigate the disturbance this afternoon.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

--------------------
CHANGES WITH THIS ADVISORY:

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the Gulf Coast from

including Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas, and Metropolitan New
Orleans.

SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT:

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for...
* Intracoastal City Louisiana to the Alabama/Florida border
* Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas, and Metropolitan New Orleans

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are
expected somewhere within the warning area within 36 hours.

Interests elsewhere along the northern Gulf Coast should monitor
the progress of this system.

======================================================

Cone, forecast models, and offical NHC track have all landfalls heading toward the SE LA coast from about White Lake to Houma.   Good news is the storm is projected to only be minimum tropical storm strenghth.   As always with the June storms, position to where you are with the storm is more important than acutal exact landfall.  In fact, NHC is saying the biggest flooding potential resides east of NOLA to the FL panhandle.

Yeppers, we're just getting started with needing to dodge hurricanes!  Yee haw!
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
