St. Louis Couple Who Wielded Guns At Protesters Plead Guilty—And Give Up Their Weapons

Topline

Mark and Patricia McCloskey, a St. Louis couple who gained notoriety after brandishing guns at Black Lives Matter protesters last summer, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges and agreed to give up their weapons in court on Thursday afternoon.

Key Facts

The couple, lawyers from Missouri, were each slammed with a felony charge for unlawful use of a weapon last July.

But last month a special prosecutor amended the charges against Patricia McCloskey and filed a new indictment giving jurors the alternative of convicting the couple of misdemeanor harassment charges instead.

Mark McCloskey, who has seized on the national attention to launch a bid for Senate, pleaded guilty to a Class C misdemeanor of 4th degree assault, while Patricia McCloskey pleaded guilty to a Class A misdemeanor of second-degree harassment.

Neither will face jail-time, but will have to pay a collective fine of $2,750 and forfeit their guns to be destroyed.

Gov. Mike Parson said last year that he'd "certainly" pardon the McCloskeys if they are convicted stemming from the June confrontation....

These two are both lawyers and they agreed to plead guilty???????

They were on their own property,facing off with rioters committing a felony crime by tearing down their fence/gate in order to try to attack them.

AND.....,they didn't even shoot anybody. They just stood there BY THEIR OWN FRONT DOOR,holding their weapons.

How the HELL can that be a felony crime?

That guy is a LAWYER? What cereal box did his law degree come from?

He plead guilty and gave his rifle up,so he is never going to be able to legally own OR possess a firearm again.

He thinks it was bad this time,he's  REALLY going to be in deep do-do if he does it again.

Maybe I am wrong,but given the tendency for DA's and judges of today to ban weapons ownership for any and all reasons,it seems to be to be unlikely they will ever be allowed to legally own firearms again.

Maybe they keep their bar memberships if they don't get hit with a felony.

The gun-toting St. Louis lawyer who pleaded guilty to pulling a gun on Black Lives Matter protesters is flaunting his new rifle.

Mark McCloskey picked up a brand new AR-15-style gun — after surrendering his old one last week as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.

“Checking out my new AR!” the controversial attorney, who is running for Senate, boasted on Twitter in two photos, one with his wife Patricia, giving the thumbs up inside a gun store.

McCloskey is seen smiling with the weapon in front of a wall of semi-automatic rifles.
