The article is confusing. As written it means that the customer/shooter was wearing a mask, but got into an argument about it. Was the cashier mocking him for wearing it?
If reporters knew how to write, they'd do it without working at it.
That would leave them more time to think about WHAT they are saying, instead of HOW they are saying it.
And if they had the time to think about WHAT they were saying, they'd start wondering WHY they were saying it.
And then they might want to start writing about true stories, and relevant stories, and then they'd have to be kicked out of the Rodent Club and not get any Pull-it-zer prizes and stuff.
So, they're all happy with their fourth grade writing skills and you're not a writer so how dare you judge THEM?
You're right, of course, that as written is reads like the shooter is wearing a face diaper and the clerk was telling him to take it off, which is very unlikely.
And it's too bad the deputy was such a poor shot. The cost of the shooter's funeral is less than his trial and incarceration, and, unless the shooter was (b)lack, the incident would have been cleared as a good shoot.
