George P. Bush breaks with family, calls former President Trump ‘center of the Republican Party’

Not every member of the Bush dynasty is a raging anti-Trump zealot. George P. Bush, the nephew of former President George W. Bush and son of failed 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush, is in fact a passionate Trump fan who views the former president as the “center of the Republican Party.”
Speaking Wednesday on Fox News’ “Fox News Primetime” about his bid to serve as Texas’s next attorney general, the aspiring 45-year-old Texas AG implored the former president’s supporters to recognize that he’s one of them.
“It’s my name on the ballot. I’m my own man. … [W]hen I talk about my record, whether it’s as land commissioner or my support of Trump, you know, I just stick to the facts. The fact is that in 2016 I was one of the first statewide-elected officials to come out and support him. I raised a million and a half in support of Republican candidates with him at the top of the ticket,” he said.
“And it was a high watermark for Republican Party politics in the state of Texas. And in 2020, I boldly declared that Trump was the only thing standing between our country, the American people and socialism. And lo and behold, I’ve turned out to be correct, with over 30 trillion in total spending, six trillion in just next year’s annual budget,” he added.
