I like Waylon better than Three Dog Night but in this case Three Dog Night did a better job. As for the song...... it's not my fave.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

And then there's option 3

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

And also the original

Hence the need for a weed option.  What gives, @corbe?

No disrespect toward Wailin' Waylon, but the Dog version of this Hoyt Axton number has long been one of my personal favorites.  I stack it in playlists next to Steppenwolf's cover of Axton's "Snowblind Friend".

I tried to repost the song @Hoodat  Apparently, Hoyt Axton does not want his songs on Conservative websites.  9999hair out0000

I am dyed in the wool Outlaw Country... And I have everything that Waylon ever did, And can play every song by memory...

Three Dog Night. Only.

But then, 3DN is expected, and I am no fan of covers - Only a rare few I will admit did the song better than the group that made a song famous...

Whitney Houston OWNS 'I Will Always Love You'. Sorry Dolly.
Johnny Cash Owns 'Hurt'... turned 9"N's whiny self absorbed teenage grunge song into a stunning and poignant statement of a dying old man...
And yes, I am sorry Simon and Garfunkel, but 'Sound of Silence'... Disturbed kicked your a$$ - And that is the hardest one for me to admit. Nobody covers Simon and Garfunkel.
Oh, and Leonard Cohen... It pains me... But Pentatonix, after all the many many covers, Pentatonix did 'Hallelujah' best of all.

Added the requested options, you're suppose to be able to change your votes (though I never figured that out).  The checkbox is checked.

I agree with everything you said @roamer_1 EXCEPT Jeff Buckley did the best version of Hallelujah, IMHO

I'll add one more - Janis Joplin over Roger Miller doing Me & Bobby McGee.

Of Course YMMV @corbe even if you're wrong  Buckley did fine and all, but what sets it apart from a thousand others?

Nope. Pentatonix, for sure.

YEP. But I like Kris Kristofferson (It's his song) better than Roger too - And I am a Roger Miller fan.
But yeah- It's Joplin's song.

Never heard that version @roamer_1 pretty damn good, still sticking with Jeff though, as you suggested YMMV.

Kristofferson wrote it & recorded a version - after Janis's.

I wish @Emjay still hung out here. I wanna know how that went down.

She just got tired of some of the 'Nevers' here (most since gone), then became angry and decided, rightly, to find peace somewhere else.
   I miss her too @skeeter

I prefer the Kentucky Headhunters' cover of "Spirit in the Sky" to Norman Greenbaum's original.
