The new, new way to raise the minimum wage
By Kevin Cochrane

The line we're being sold by the left is that the stimulus payments are to help people in need during this COVID economic "crisis."  Apparently, not unlike Little Bo Peep, they've all lost their jobs and don't know where to find them.  This is in spite of data recently released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics showing that while roughly 10 million folks are unemployed, there are 8 million job openings going unfilled.  We'll get back to this disconnect in a bit.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the moon, conspiracy theorists think the stimulus payments are all about making folks dependent on the government.  Also, according to the theoretical "master plan," this also makes everyone vote for Democrats in the future because Democrats provided the stimulus.  Maybe, but this ignores the two previous stimulus payments passed by Republicans and pushed by President Trump.

So what's really going here?  Perhaps the most recent stimulus payment has little or nothing to do with either helping people in hard times, or making people government-dependent.  Maybe it's all about the minimum wage.  The last few years have witnessed a major push to raise the minimum wage from its current level to $15 per hour.  This push, while successful in a few states, has gone nowhere on the federal level.  More than a few Democrats don't support it and most recently voted against it in the Senate.

Yes.

ALL "stimulus" scams are intended solely to make the recipient feel beholden to the Administration (or, in Biden's case, the Regime) giving people someone else's money.

The amount of the "stimulus" is never enough to stimulate anything but minor gratitude.   A person whose hours were cut, or laid off, because of gross government incompetence or malfeasance leading to economic slow down, needs more than a week's pay.  They need a job.

To put it plainly, "stimuli" scams are nothing more than catering to the media fed public belief that the lies of Keynesian economics work to grow the economy.  Keynesian economic nonsense is as successful as socialism, because it is socialism, and naturally Keynesian economics policies thus work as often as all other socialist policies, i.e. they never work.

They didn't work for FDR, unless FDR's goal was to make the Depression much worse and last longer.  They didn't work for Carter, unless Carter wanted maximum stagflation.  They didn't work for GW Bush, and they didn't work for Hussein from Kenya...he did want to destroy the economy of the country, so Keynesian economics worked to promote that goal.

It didn't work under Trump.   Trump was under intense pressure to do SOMETHING, but wasn't allowed to do the right thing.   Which would have been to fire Fauci and open the economy..which was something the states were responsible for, actually.

And since Biden is nothing more than Obama's meat puppet, its no wonder they'll go back to spending your children's money to tickle the economy into doing nothing.

US history is replete with examples of how economic growth happens when the government stops stealing money (aka tax cuts) and gets out of the way.

THAT is "stimulus".

As for ANY level of "minimum" wage, those are nothing more than a tax on business.  An artificial extraction of funds not related to expanding market share or productivity.   Naturally mandatory minimum wages in excess of $0.00 dollars per hour is going to hurt businesses and increase unemployment.

The GOP is not the party leadership.  The GOP is the party MEMBERSHIP.   The members need to kick the leaders out if they leaders are going the wrong way.  No coddling allowed.
