Britain plans to drop COVID-19 passports as a legal requirement for large events, The Daily Telegraph reported on Sunday.

The UK officials working on the review into COVID-19 status certificates believe there is no chance the law will be changed to mandate their use within the UK, the report added.

A government spokesman said in an emailed statement to Reuters that the COVID-19 vaccine certification review is still in process and no decision has yet been made. ...

...    As the UK’s vaccination programme continues at greater speed than most countries, questions in Whitehall have focused on how best fully to reopen sectors such as theatres and nightclubs, and restart spectator events including festivals and concerts, without social distancing.

But the Guardian has been told that status documents, which would display proof of vaccination, a recent negative test result, or antibodies, are unlikely to be introduced ahead of 21 June – the final stage of Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown when all legal limits on social contact are due to be scrapped.

In February, the prime minister announced a review into Covid status certificates – suggesting they could be used in places such as pubs. But the investigation team, led by Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove, later dropped the idea of the documents being required in hospitality settings or any “essential” shop.

Government sources with knowledge of the review have suggested that plans to make the documents a legal requirement are likely to be axed. One said the certificates are “not happening on current thinking” – pointing to Israel preparing to ditch its “green pass” for domestic settings from 1 June – while another said it was an “open secret”.   ...

Considering how most western European nations rely on international tourism, perhaps they should eliminate any vaccine requirement for visitors. If they don't, it appears 2019 will mark the last ever trip to Europe for Mr. M and me.

Even if England decides you don't need a vaccine passport within the country to go to a pub, the European Union still - at least for now - is going to require the vax of anyone entering from foreign countries. As I noted elsewhere, looks like my travels to Europe have come to an end. Pity. I was hoping to get to Switzerland one more time.

Today, the UK put out  this message:  The UK is experiencing a THIRD WAVE OF COVID and it is the Indian VARIANT B1.617.2.  This variant spreads 50% faster than the other Indian variant or other variants, and is a worse illness than the other Indian variant or other variants.

Some weeks ago, there were 1,800 new cases a day.  For the last 6 days, there are 3,000+ a day of new Indian cases.

The government is opening the UK completely, on June 21.  However, the government and scientists will review that on June 14, so that could change.  They will be checking hospital admission numbers to determine what to do on June 14, or before.

The name "INDIAN VARIANT", HAS BEEN CHANGED TO "DELTA VARIANT" AS THEY DO NOT WANT PEOPLE TO THINK BAD OF INDIA.

There is a serious cluster of the Delta Variant in north Wales.  The closest city to them is Liverpool.  The UK yesterday had 4,330 new cases of the Delta Variant and 12 deaths.  Their NHS (National Health Service) is monitoring hospital admissions in case they have to shut down the UK again due to the Delta Variant.  The UK is supposed to open back to normal in late June but if hospital admissions have become large again, they will not open and could go back to stay in your house.

Changing geographic variant names to something neutral is WHO's shtick, and countries' health "experts" are obediently following suit.
