Severe storms in parts of the Plains and Midwest could produce destructive wind gusts, large hail, a few tornadoes and flash flooding on Thursday.

Widespread severe weather hit the Plains and Northeast on Wednesday.

NOAA's Storm Prediction Center (SPC) had logged 355 combined reports of damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes in the 24 hours ending 8 a.m. EDT Thursday. That's the second-highest total for any 24-hour period in SPC's database so far in 2021.
