But I recall it seemed damnear every time I surfed through the cable channels, one or more of The Purge or its squels was on teevee. He expects a spike(in mass shootings) and blames it on vaccinations and people being afraid to go out no longer.
I think that's a misattribution, if ever there was one. You have people who have been stuck, lost jobs, businesses, to arbitrary rules and regulations, many of which are (finally) being exposed for the arbitrary and capricious nonsense they were. You have had ever mounting frustration as gibbering (well paid) idiots tell us "we are all in this together.", when for many just looking at the screen it is increasingly evident we are not.
People who had the sort of jobs that cannot be done from home, and lost those jobs, often to placate the ginned up and largely irrational fears of those who could, have suffered to the point of suicide from the indirect effects of COVID precautions and regulations.
Between the seeds planted by movies like The Purge, where there are no rules and no repercussions for acts of violence, and the (correctly mentioned) very real rioting in the streets, wanton destruction, looting, mayhem, and even murder with few evident penalties, people are going to crack. More draconian measures create the greatest pressure, and the greatest stress, so where those were implemented I would expect the worst incidents.
What surprises me is that he made $160, but that may not be the ticket to as posh a lifestyle there in San Jose as it would be in the Intermountain west. With Domestic violence convictions (isn't that a disqualifier for owning firearms?) he may have anger issues which went unresolved before they reached critical mass.
