A fact-check on the North Carolina pastor's assertion that he's a descendent of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee is raising doubt about his ancestry.

An "old family story", such as Fauxcahontas claimed? Or a conscious lie-for-the-cause? The details would be boring, but the guy's theological background suggests to me that he could willingly lie-for-the-cause. Also, his church's website is an exercise in diligent avoidance of saying what they believe.

I am descended from the Lee family- not Bobby, though. When I'm on my desktop, I can clarify.

Edit to add:  Robert E. Lee's great-grandfather Henry Lee II (1730-1787) is my great-x6-grandfather.
