Inflation Is the Issue That Will Topple the Democrats

Inflation is a regressive tax on the middle class and the poor. It destroys real income in order to reduce the real cost of debt service — until creditors revolt, and demand an extra risk premium for lending to profligate governments. Below is my most recent column at Asia Times:

NEW YORK – A 10% surge in used car prices pushed the “core” US Consumer Price Index (CPI) up by 0.9% in April – an annualized rate of increase of more than 11% – in the highest inflation print since the Great Financial Crisis of 2008. There’s worse to come, as higher housing costs feed into consumer prices.

The consensus forecast called for an increase in the “core” rate (excluding food and energy) of just 0.3%. We have been warning for weeks that visible price increases for homes, cars, and other items would produce an inflation surge. This one lands on Biden’s lap. Republicans, take note.

I’ve been warning (“Inflation might bring down Biden“) that Biden’s multi-trillion dollar bribes to Democratic constituencies would produce a price tsunami. Well, it’s happening now. Here’s what I wrote this morning at Asia Times:

The 70s had some of the best rock bands, though. And some of the really good movies came out during that era like Jaws, Close encounters of the Third Kind,  and at least nowadays we won’t have to worry about the long lines to see Star Wars. We also had a cabin that was up on a lake on the Minnesota Canadian border that  I used to really enjoy going to when we had it so there’s those memories

Why did Carter's inflation hurt him?   

Because the media didn't lie about whose fault it was.

Why won't Biden's inflation hurt Biden?  Because the media is going to lie about it being Trump's fault.

Why did the press rail so vigorously against the recession the Rapist President caused?   Because they called it Bush's.

This stagflation period is going to be incredibly painful, all the more so because we know how to prevent it, we know how to get out of it, and we know the Rodents are going to lie, steal, cheat and probably kill some more Seth Riches to make sure we don't do anything to prevent it or fix it.

So long as the democrat-communists have their burgeoning "underground election apparati", they will be able to "control" enough elections to maintain their grasp on power.

And if they have that, the "issues" simply won't matter any more.

Stats are not as important as what people will be paying at the pump or grocery store.
