What's really behind our slowest population growth since the great depression?
Jazz Shaw Apr 27, 2021 12:31 PM ET

The initial numbers from the 2020 census were released recently and they contain several oddities. Most of the focus is currently being placed on which states are gaining or losing congressional seats, as you might expect from a media cohort that focuses strongly on politics and policy. In those terms, we’ve already seen the projections. Some notable blue states will be losing a seat while some southern and western red states will benefit. Those shifts primarily indicate the migration of people away from expensive areas and toward more hospitable climes perceived to have greater opportunities and frequently better weather. But underneath all of the political churning in the census data was a rather disturbing fact. The population of the United States grew over the past ten years, but it was the slowest rate of growth seen in all but one decade of the nation’s history. Why? (Associated Press)

Quote
The nation’s political center of gravity shifted further to the Republican-led South and West on Monday, with Texas, Florida and other Sun Belt states gaining congressional seats while chillier climes like New York and Ohio lost them.

Altogether, the U.S. population rose to 331,449,281, the Census Bureau said, a 7.4 increase that was the second-slowest ever.

The new allocation of congressional seats came in the U.S. Census Bureau’s first release of data from a 2020 headcount. The numbers chart familiar American migration patterns, and confirm one historic marker: For the first time in 170 years of statehood, California is losing a congressional seat

Haven't read the article yet, but I would say a big factor is the Woke nonsense that the younger generations have been indoctrinated with. Men are afraid to approach women for fear of negative repercussions - particularly in any work setting. Plus popular media pushes a never-ending agenda of LGBTQ and our of wedlock sex.

A rate of growth represents either an increase/decrease in that measured.
As such it can be perceived as a vote of confidence in the issue/matter.
Suspect even toddlers understand this!!!

Low-T.  The last couple of generations would rather masturbate to pornhub vids or pretend to be gay/lesbian than try to engage in social intercourse with the opposite sex.

Raising a child is too expensive on top of all the other costs of living.
Raising a child has always been expensive, what has changed is that young people have been taught to be more invested in self gratification of the moment. Expensive cars, TV's, stereos, toys and playing. You can't have all those toys and partying and be a responsible parent too, heck do you know how much time it takes to raise a child?

My kids are so different, my daughter married and had a child first and she and my SIL work long hours but still find time to be involved with my grandsons baseball practice and travel ball with never a gripe. My son on the other hand married later and had two girls and all he does is whine about how much work they are and being tired and never enough time. I laugh at him, my mother raised three of us while my dad worked two jobs and still found time to go to nursing school at night after which she worked and still kept house and gave us hot meals without ever once complaining. My wife and I raised our two with no help other than pre school and after school care while we worked, took my daughter to fastpitch practice and games with no complaining about not enough 'me' time.

No I think the problem is to many of our young adults never actually grow up, are lazy and self centered. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I can't believe they aren't here in the states already.

To those following along...used panty vending machines are a real thing

It's not just that, it's that when men do approach women, the answer far too often is no. Too many women would rather be alone the rest of their lives unless they find a man who will improve her bank account.

True love, in this society, is dead, and the working class man stands no chance of being able to build a family.

I think woman these days are being taught that they don't need a man and that (even worse) having any sort of dependence on a man in their life means they are a failure. What's really sad about that, is the studies consistently show that married women with kids are happier than those who eschew a family for a career outside of the home.

It's pretty hard to imagine the femi-nazi dominated Rodent leadership allowing the panty-waisted whiny liberals to have sex with them.   They have manly battery operated tools to perform that function.

And when they do get knocked up, they rush to the slums to get Planned Parenthood to kill the baby.

Getting pregnant is something the janitors do.
