Just Purchased A Home In Mesa
« on: April 25, 2021, 11:26:47 pm »
Although I will be commuting for, at least a year, my family will be there.

What a mess the Real Estate market is right now.

Not just in Mesa...all over the country.

Happy to be headed home (eventually).

Got here just in time for the HEAT...

I sure hope it isn't as bad as last year...

Roughly where in Mesa are you?

Yes,

This is the "price" you pay for Southwest living.

It's not new to me.

It's hot....real hot.

Eastern part of Mesa.

I grew up in Scottsdale (if I grew up anywhere).

Things have changed a great deal.

I'm in north eastern Mesa (the very edge).

I really liked the East Valley.  There's another Briefer wandering around there, IIRC.

My question is, if the shit hits the fan is this a bad place to be?

I don't think so.  The worst I had to deal with were the leftists.  If there's going to be riots and stuff, that would be more likely in the West Valley.

I always felt safe there.

Congrats.

If, when I'm aged and infirmed, I decide I need a hot climate for the rest of my retirement, Arizona is where I'll head.  As it is, I'm hoping to move back east (I'm Pennsylvania born and bred, though I've now lived a little more of my life in Kansas than anywhere else.)
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

If you are coming from California, the price has gone up substantially I'm told. There's an exodus from California going on right now. They're having a hard time finding people to bring back the U-Haul trucks/trailers. I was a little ahead of the curve apparently.

Going to AZ is a premium.

I would say NO.  But stock up on some water.  I happen to live near a river, but I keep some gallons of water in the garage, to flush toilets, or filter for drinking, besides my indoor stash of spring water for cooking soups. I have the room, so I see no problem for me. I have a gas BBQ for cooking, if electricity goes out. One has to think of things. When I lived in an apt. they would turn off the water for a few hours and not tell us.  This way, I could flush toilet.  I always have my spring water for cooking, with this happening many times at the apt. In my home now, in the SW.
