Why Coca Cola caved
By Thomas Lifson

Brand new survey data suggest that corporations that cave to the left alienate more consumers than they attract — by a big margin.  Glenn Reynolds's slogan "Get woke, go broke" turns out to be very true.

Yesterday, in discussing the departure of its general counsel, who mandated a (quite probably illegal) quota for law firms working for the Coca-Cola Company to have 30% of their billable hours performed by minorities and 15% by Blacks, I noted that the company "seems to be learning the hard way that signing up for the racialist agenda of the left has a downside."  Today, we learn, via a Rasmussen poll, some of the sort of data that must have convinced the company to quietly retreat from so openly race-mongering.

Quote

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 37% of American Adults the company's stand against the new Georgia law makes them less likely to purchase Coca-Cola products. Twenty-five percent (25%) say they are more likely to buy Coke, but 30% say the company's political stance doesn't make much difference.

The survey of 1,000 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on April 15 and 18, 2021 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

A net loss of inclination to purchase its products by twelve percent of the population (37% minus 25%) represents a lot of money.  Try reporting a 12% sales decline in any major American corporation and see what happens to your career.

I say boycott Coca-cola for life.  I know I am.  Just one more worthless company with no intelligent head.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

If you want your business to  succeed, say and do something that upsets the left so they boycott you. For some reason, left wing led boycotts have the opposite effect on businesses that the left hope for

If you want your business to fail, say or do something that offends people on the right or every day average Americans

So the article about why Coke caved was written by a clown that caved himself.

How else to describe his capitalization of the word (b)lack in his article?

I done the same... There's a cold pack of Royal Crown in my fridge right now. Went and looked for it special... For the grands, of course, not for me. But the point is the same.

Companies like Coca-Cola derive just half of their sales from The US market.  The growth is in foreign markets, and for that reason they often kowtow to the globalist left, supporting global warming initiatives and other "woke" policies.  If you think about it, the more money is taken from well-off Americans and distributed to the third world, the more it helps a global consumer food, discretionary or non-durable manufacturer like Coke.

This is why global corporations are so aligned with the Democrat agenda.  Global wealth redistribution generally benefits them.

@Sled Dog

That is common protocol when dealing with skin color, for example...

Saying, 'I want a white piece of paper' is different than saying, 'he is a White man'.
A White person is not actually white. In this case White refers to a culture.
Saying, 'I want black coffee' is different than saying 'he is a Black man'.
A Black person is not necessarily actually black. It is referring to a culture not a color.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

I always liked Pepsi better anyway, back in my "cola drinking days".
But they ended a long time ago.
The only time I'll order a cola now is when I meet a friend for lunch, 4 or 5 times a year...

I never liked any fizzy sugar drinks, but I'll make an exception for root beer, if it's not made with High Fructose Corn syrup.  Only real sugar for me, that other stuff tastes like crap.

Of course, Coke and Pepsi only use HFC in their USA products, so they self-boycott. I'm not going to drink Mexican Coke.
