How Generations of Presidents (Including Reagan) Wrecked Our Country
By Michael Filozof

For over fifty years, it has been a recurring promise of conservative candidates running for election that they will stand up for our constitutional rights and support the appointment of judges and Supreme Court justices who will uphold the Constitution.

Yet time after time, the left seems to win both ideological and legal battles on monumental issues such as abortion, marriage, gun control, immigration, racial preferences for minorities, and the ever-expanding size and scope of government — no matter what the text of the Constitution actually says.

In The Age of Entitlement: America Since the Sixties, (2020; ISBN 978-1-5011-0689-7) author Christopher Caldwell advances the thesis that the Constitution of 1788 has been effectively nullified by our elites and supplanted with a "new constitution" that originated in, and reflects the values of, the "Civil Rights Era" of the 1960s.  Though the civil rights movement began as a reformist movement within the old order, it evolved into a "revolution" that has nearly triumphed over the polity created in the 18th century:

Quote
The changes of the 1960s, with civil rights at their core, were not just a major new element in the Constitution.  They were a rival constitution, with which the original one was frequently incompatible[.] ... Much of what we have called "polarization" or "incivility" in recent years is something more grave — it is the disagreement over which of the two constitutions shall prevail: the de jure constitution of 1788 ... with centuries of American culture behind it ... or the de facto constitution of 1964, which lacks this traditional kind of legitimacy but commands the near-unanimous endorsement of judicial elites and civic educators and the passionate allegiance of those who received it as liberation.

Right on! The entire article is right on the mark IMHO!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Fifty years?

It was Teddy Roosevelt who was the first "Progressive" Prez, and who's Turd Party of Moose Bull put Wilson the Racist into the White House.

This destruction has been going on for over a century.

Common thread?

Self, party, or power interests over the interests and what's best for the country.

The swamp has become so turbid and wretched with the stench of corruption, that no one with any self respect wants to participate.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

:yowsa:  Absolutely right! And if any should try they will get the Trump treatment even harder.

The problem is the unlimited franchise.

So unlimited that illegal aliens are mailed ballots.

So unlimited that "dual citizens" are allowed to hold US citizenship, and vote.

So unlimited that the illiterate can vote.  As can the chronically unemployed, the senile, the retarded and the socialist.

Americans should be allowed to vote.

Period.

The guy is full of it. What wrecked the country was allowing women to vote. The amount of great, conservative women does not offset the larger amount of liberal, women who only vote for progressive causes. Especially, abortion "rights."
If the parties switched positions on the issue, all those women would vote for Pubbies. Abortion is the only issue most of them really care about. Confirmed by private one on one polls conducted by yours truly some decades ago.

The Ancients, the wisest who ever strode this Earth, identified Natural Law, uncovered
thru logic and reason, as the proper instrument for the governance of Man, while being
independent of economics, of politics and of religion, which it predates by countless millennia.
We are in our present deadly morass because we no longer accept nor understand such
Ancient Wisdom and instead are immersed in political horse manure as the solution for
our increasingly moral problems; which is eons beyond a Fool's Mission!!!
The opening post is the solution to absolutely zero!!!

One need only look at the justices that Eisenhower brought in (through recess appointments, by the way) and how they radically changed the court: Earl Warren and William Brennan.

Their treachery against this nation set it on the course we have seen today. To them, the ends of their progressive utopia justified whatever means they used to force it.

Can't really blame him for opposing Taft after he supported the 16th and 17th Amendments.  But you are correct.  Wilson was a disaster.  No Virginian has made it to the White House since.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Racist POS.

Bigtime.  He single-handedly federalized segregation and inspired the rebirth of the KKK.  A Democrat Party Legacy.

And got us into a stupid war we had no business being in, by pretending to be neutral but aiding the Brits the whole time.

---------------------------
Indeed an utter disaster, yet for a far different reason!
Before Wilson we were an insular culture/society that was quietly
emerging as the pre-eminent economic power in the world due to
the creativity/dynamism of our industrialization.
Then in 1917 Wilson engaged us in the Great War, a tragic conflict
that was absolutely none of our GODAMMED BUSINESS!!!
That action internationalized our politics for the worse; a reality
whose consequences we now pay for daily and have have never
been able to reverse.

In the history of this country, the only thing worse than the Wilson administration was that of Abe Lincoln!
