Harris Suggests Black Women In U.S. More Likely To Die In Childbirth Because of ‘Implicit Bias’

Kamala Harris on Tuesday said black women in the U.S. are more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications because, in part, of “systemic racial inequities.â€
The White House issued its first-ever presidential proclamation marking Black Maternal Health Week, where Harris claimed there are racial gaps in pregnancy and childbirth-related deaths and complications in the United States.
“Black women in our country are facing a maternal health crisis. We know the primary reasons why: systemic racial inequities and implicit bias,†Harris said, as noted by the New York Times.
“Black women deserve to be heard. Their voices deserve to be respected,†Harris said. “And like all people, they must be treated with dignity.â€
