Scalise: House would 'take action' against Gaetz if DOJ filed charges
By John Bowden - 04/14/21 12:26 PM EDT

Rep. Steve Scalise (La.), the No. 2 Republican in the House, on Wednesday, promised that his party and the Democratic majority would "take action" against Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) if the Justice Department was to file "formal" charges against the Florida lawmaker related to an ongoing sex trafficking investigation.

Scalise, the House minority whip, told reporters at a news conference that he had yet to speak to Gaetz about the reports and said that lawmakers "want to get the facts" on what transpired.

Gaetz is the subject of a Justice Department investigation also involving his close associate, former Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg, which has resulted in numerous charges for Greenberg so far including sex trafficking of a minor.

Gaetz has repeatedly denied the allegations.

Yes, let's hand a crooked DOJ a weapon to use against conservative Representatives.

Tom Delay comes to mind, when the GOP had a rule to kick Representatives off their Committee assignments if they are ever indicted for any crime.  The Rats have no such rule, and the GOP caved to Rat pressure when they wanted to align the GOP rules with the Rats' rules.

All it takes is an indictment to kick people out of power, no conviction required.  This is stupid.
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

You would think Scalise, of all people, would appreciate what he's up against.

Will they file charges against CNN for libel and for violating campaign finance laws?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."
