Pelosi invites Biden to address Congress on April 28
By Brett Samuels and Cristina Marcos - 04/13/21 08:06 PM EDT Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Tuesday invited President Biden to address a joint session of Congress on April 28, roughly 100 days after Biden took office.
"Nearly 100 days ago, when you took the oath of office, you pledged in a spirit of great hope that 'Help Is On The Way.' Now, because of your historic and transformative leadership, Help Is Here!" Pelosi wrote in a letter inviting Biden to address both chambers.
"In that spirit, I am writing to invite you to address a Joint Session of Congress on Wednesday, April 28, to share your vision for addressing the challenges and opportunities of this historic moment," Pelosi added.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether Biden would accept the invitation.
Newly inaugurated presidents typically make their first address to Congress within weeks of taking office, though Biden had so far not done so due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
