Name-calling of Politicians / Political Parties
« on: April 05, 2021, 07:26:31 pm »
Are pet phrases/names like "Libtards", "Demoncrats", "Repukes", "Drumpf", "Sleepy Joe", etc., really helpful? Or do they indicate a purely emotional reaction and therefore make one seem less rooted in logic?

It's the second, I suppose, but I call Democrats "Rats" because of the way they bitched about a frame in a political commercial.  I'm a badun...ya biddy!   :laugh:

Well, I was joshing you about being a "biddy."  You most certainly are not.

I've always enjoyed this forum because we can express our opinion without the mods putting their thumbs down on us. Name calling of politicians and political parties goes along with the territory and is a form of expression.  We all of course know that name-calling of individuals is off limits.

So instead of Sloe Joe, Mario Kart Joe, Sleepy Joe, etc., we should call him president Biden or just plain Joe?  Somehow that seems a tad boring. I myself would have a difficult time actually referring to him as president Biden...he just ain't presidential enough!   :shrug:

Ha!  Opinions vary, and I have my moments.   :laugh:
I'm not one to engage in those kinds of monikers for the most part but it doesn't really bother me all that much, although purposely-leading poll answers might give that impression.

Totally agree with you - the mods here do an amazing job of engaging where needed and staying out of it where not.

I don't think I've ever said President Biden, either; usually it's just plain old "Biden".  "Sloe Joe" just makes me want to drink!

Any name calling or condemnation of politicians in my humble opinion is tame, and almost always warranted.  Most of them have earned a rope and a public hanging in my book!

We were once a republic.  Our Constitution calls for that, but today, we are more like the mob oriented Bolsheviks that brought forth the revolution in Russia during the days of the czar.  One of our two political parties has gone communist.  Democratic socialism is nothing more than semantics.  They are following an armload of kooks, Sanders, Cortez and her group, and a radical Biden.  And rest assured, these folks are lining their pockets with gold as they go down the path.  Nothing Pelosi does is far from that mindset!

"Yes, it is a shorthand to let people know where I stand without spelling out the details" got my vote.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Great Poll @Polly Ticks and with that being said, I voted the Weed and Biddy option, of course.  I added the NO 'Why can't we always just 'Get Along) ~ Rodney King option vote for good measure.

@corbe
Thank you!  I was a bit disappointed because the biddy option wasn't doing very well.  Hopefully it will start to pick up some traction.  :laugh:

   I reason it out @Polly Ticks though corbe gets a ton of $hit, most is truly endearment, as my vote for you being a Biddy was.  We have a couple of those here but I've never counted you among them.   *girl beer*
