GOP Senators Shut Down Immigration Deal Until Border Crisis Is Solved

On Friday, Republican senators indicated that discussions about possible immigration deals to illegal immigrants would be off the table until the Biden administration resolves the ongoing crisis at the southern border.

GOP Senators indicated that the topic related to giving illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship would not be discussed until the crisis at the southern border is addressed.

Republican Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa asked, “How can you pass an immigration bill when you have an open border?” He continued, “if they want to accomplish anything on immigration and I want to help them, it would be securing the border.”

IMO republicans don't want a solution any more than the democrats.  Immigration has traditionally been a good medium for getting face time in the news for people back home.  They can both argue vehemently about immigration knowing they will do nothing.  If they honestly felt something could be done about it, and wanted to do it, they would have done so already.

So they want, yet again, to be seen "fighting for America" when they had the chance, under Trump, to push hard for effective border laws....and refused to even try.

The one thing we need most of all is representatives that represent US,not corporations or foreign interests.

I had to add a bit of clarification after reading what I wrote. Corporations ARE foreign interests. By nature,they only care about themselves.

As if doing what Americans want is what being elected to office and going to Washington is about. Why would any self respecting corporation or foreign entity donate to your re election for that?
