Changing the clocks as we do seems to make sense here in New England, to keep daybreak in a relatively even time frame.
I guess if one is a thousand miles close to the equator, in Texas, Florida, or southern California, it may seem different.
The hardest part of the time change is dealing with old digital clocks where the pushbuttons used to adjust the time won't work anymore (contacts go bad due to age). The little clock sitting nearby on my ethernet switch has time-set buttons that don't work at all any more -- what I have to do is take out the battery, and then re-insert it at 1pm to "restart" it...
