NBC Rushes To Explain Why Crimes Against Asians Aren’t Always Hate Crimes

When is a hate crime not a hate crime? It apparently depends on the ethnicity of the victim and the perpetrator as well. Or at least that’s the message coming from NBC News in an “explainer” they published this weekend. If you’re a white person hanging a noose outside a Black person’s house or painting a swastika on a synagogue, you’re obviously going to be tagged with a hate crime. But what about random attacks on Asian people in the middle of a pandemic that most of the world blames on China? Not so fast there, partner. NBC wants you to know that you need to slow your roll and examine all of the evidence carefully. We wouldn’t want to unjustly accuse somebody, would we?

The robberies and assaults in several big-city Chinatowns have led to significant media coverage and outcry from activists, many of whom have labeled the incidents hate crimes. But recent higher-profile cases that have gone viral on social media aren’t being investigated as such, law enforcement officials say. Officials say the occurrences don’t show signs of being racially motivated.

Social media posts have conflated violence against people who are Asian American with hate crimes against the community at large, tying the crimes to pandemic-related racism. Some sources have declared a “spike” in hate crimes, citing an astronomical increase. But the figure they refer to specifically reflects New York City and New York police data obtained by NBC Asian America, which showed three anti-Asian hate crimes in 2019 and 28 last year. No hate crimes were reported this year so far.

Anybody catch the circular reasoning in those two paragraphs? Crimes against Asians aren't being investigated as hate crimes. Police data show there is no wave of hate crimes against Asians. Hello! If police won't investigate crimes against Asians as potential hate crimes, of course police data will show there is no wave of hate crimes against Asians!

I oppose hate crime laws. They are open invitations to hate-crime hoaxes, false accusations, endanger free speech, and empower race-baiters. But if such laws are on the books, they must be applied equally: no ethnic group should be off-limits as victims; no ethnic group should be off-limits as perpetrators. That is not how these laws are being applied.

I can't say much about the corporate world but I have been in positions to hire and fire people to get the job done for the business.  I did hire by qualifications on the resume. I can honestly say I had no problems firing anyone that didn't work out.

Thought-Crime laws exist only to punish people who have non-conforming thoughts.  As such, they punish the Person of Pallor who shoots any POC attempting to rape his daughter, but these laws won't ever be used against POX engaged in Polar Bear or Panda Bear Hunting.

Thought-Crime laws are a blatant violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

"Oh, there aren't enough females.  Hire more."    The field of engineering is 80% male.  How is it, under a purely meritocratic system, more than 50% of managerial promotions are given to females?

"Oh, there aren't enough Mexicans.   Hire more with illegal-alien sounding names."

"Oh, the fascist tranny lobby is making noise.  Hire more bleep."

Companies in the US frequently celebrate "Asian and Pacific Islander Month".   Why do they never celebrate Atlantic Islander Month?

Answer:  The UK and Iceland and Ireland are Atlantic Islands.

Why do we have to suffer with Black History Month every year, but no equivalent White History celebration?   Because the people re-writing our history don't want us to realize how insignificant the contributions blacks have made to history.  Sorry, but not sorry, because it's true.

What is "Affirmative Action"?  Systemic racism.   The legislated preference for PoC when two equally capable candidates, one white, is racism under law.   What was it called when the white people were given the preference?   Democrat hiring processes, aka "Jim Crow".
