@marcorubio
Unfortunately due to an unexpected family issue I was unable to give my speech at @CPAC
.

I was really looking forward to it.
But as I told @mschlapp
they should move #cpac to #Florida permanently.

Today (Saturday) is chock full of panel discussions ... each has a few stand out moments.  I'll post those as they become available.

As Myst posted above, Rubio was scheduled to speak today but a family "issue" intervened.

Typically the President of the United States gives the State of the Union address in February. Sadly President Biden is not up to the task. Fortunately, former President Trump is. Tune in at 3:40PM EST on Sunday https://live.conservative.org

The Trump train is still moving full steam ahead as CPAC speakers urge GOP to hop on
BPR, Feb 27, 2021, Jon Dougherty

One speaker after another at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida embraced former President Donald Trump and his legacy as they invited other Republicans still not on the Trump Train to climb aboard.

That tone was set on day one of the annual conference with a fiery speech by Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, who made it clear that the party’s future was not its establishment past.

Florida “is an oasis of freedom in a nation that’s suffering, in many parts of the country, under the yoke of oppressive lockdowns,” DeSantis declared at the Orlando event.

“Florida’s leading on the issues that matter to conservatives. We don’t spout hollow rhetoric, we take decisive action,” he added. “We cannot, we will not go back to the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear.”

The message was clear: Trumpism is the way forward for the GOP, and anyone who disagreed would be left behind.

“Let me tell you right now. Donald J. Trump ain’t going anywhere,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), said in one of the most cheered lines of all during Friday’s festivities, after noting there are “a whole lot of voices in Washington that want to erase the last four years.”

“They look at Donald J. Trump, and they look at the millions and millions of people inspired, who went to battle fighting alongside President Trump, and they’re terrified,” Cruz said. “And they want him to go away.”

“The Republican Party is not the party just of the country clubs,” Cruz added. “The Republican Party is the party of steelworkers and construction workers and pipeline workers and taxi cab drivers and cops and firefighters and waiters and waitresses and the men and women with calluses on their hands who are working for this country. That is our party, and these deplorables are here to stay.”

“These radical liberals, they want to erase our history,” Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas said during his Friday speech. “They want to replace it with their crazy Marxist theories.”

On Saturday, much discussion involving various foreign and domestic policies took place in breakout sessions as speakers lambasted President Joe Biden’s visions on immigration, reentering the Iran deal, climate change, and engagement with China.

“The Biden Administration claims ‘America is back’ — but America didn’t go anywhere,” former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted before his speech earlier this week. “Quite the opposite. We built enormous coalitions all around the world to secure American freedom. We made America more prosperous and much stronger.”

I 'm  torn.  The content of the speech was excellent ; a little too much enthusiasm. He needs to just be himself .  His  humor has always been there  -- I liked the old softer Ted better. Those that have criticized him previously haven't been paying attention to his message. I don't think shouting is going to make his message heard any better.

As for winning in  '22 and  '24  all those speaking are promoting that idea -- what are they doing to ensure a fair election???

I think that 's a very valid question that those speaking need to address and diligently work on; otherwise the GOP WILL lose BIGLY.

I think POTUS 45 will have something to say about election integrity and "winning" in '22 during his speech tomorrow @libertybele .

And, I agree ... Ted went flying off the reservation toward the end of his speech .... it's already being compared with the end of Howard Dean's now infamous speech after his primary win.

Ted's best speech IMHO was his speech at Liberty University announcing that he was going to run for President; he spoke with passion, conviction and enthusiasm.

Ted needs to be  Ted, and he needs to speak from his heart and leave the theatrics behind him; that's not who he is.

Here's a live link for today's session.  POTUS 45 is set to speak a 3:40 pm ET (get here early for a good seat  happy77).  I've read that the cables (including CNN--but expect them to cut away --- actually expect all of them to cut away) and C-Span will cover this speech live.

Since we don't when the cables will cut out -- just what the trigger word will be -- it'll be a good idea to keep the link below nearby.

John Solomon is wrapping up a very good speech ... I'll post the full speech when a link to it is available.

Here's the live link --- broadcasting live all day ...
