tzedakah is more commonly used to mean giving and 'charity'.
A Tzedek is a charitable giving person.

Liberal American Jews don't need to 'Wake Up' because they are already wide awake. Western Jews support Islamists (who openly say they want to kill them) and extremist far-Left Liberal Nazis (who are openly antisemitic) as a form of rebellion against their own culture.
I have seen Liberal Jews walk into an Orthodox Synagogue on the Sabbath while talking on their cell phone. That is no accident.
I have seen a Liberal son and his Christian wife bring a ham to his parent's Passover Seder. That is no accident.
What I am trying to say is that many Liberal parents raise their children to HATE God, and anything associated with God, like Orthodox Jews, Torah, Synagogues and traditions.
Liberal Jews do not support antisemites because they don't know what they are doing. They support antisemites and so many perverted causes with specific intent, deliberately. They hate their traditional parents. They hate religion. And subsequently they hate Israel. So anything that is the opposite of those things, they are necessarily in support of.
I know why they do it. But what I can never comprehend is how and why they think that somehow they themselves will be immune from the hate they are spreading. That I do not know. Apparently they think that antisemites think like they think. They think that antisemites only hate religious Jews and Israel, and they are onboard with that.
What they do not realize is that antisemites hate ALL Jews, Liberal Jews included. If they imagine that somehow they are 'too big' or 'too Liberal' to be affected, then they are living in a fantasy world. Antisemites, especially Muslim antisemites, would kill Schumer and Barbara Streisand just as quickly as they would kill any Orthodox Rabbi, or any other Jew for that matter.
This delusion Liberal American Jews live in that they are somehow 'safe' from the antisemitism that they themselves support is why they will never 'wake up' as it is called. In fact many of them are so far gone in that delusion, they would deny there is any issue with antisemitism up to the very moment some uniformed Federal Security Officer puts a bullet between their eyes. Even then they would be yelling, "Don't you know who I am!!"
