Any word on whether or not Cruz will again be a good dad and fly back to Cancun to bring home the family?

Are they still there?  If you find that they are, please post a link.  Might even be on Twit.

Senator Ted Cruz returns to Texas after traveling to Cancun amid winter weather crisis
Texas Senator Ted Cruz is on his way back to Texas from Cancun after he was spotted boarding a plane to Mexico with his family.
In a statement, Cruz said he flew to Cancun to accompany his daughters, who had a school vacation and wanted to “take a trip with friends.” The story comes amid the ongoing crisis in Texas, where millions were left without power in freezing temperatures due to a winter storm.

I was going to ask, any DEMON-RATS...leave Texas for their families and warmth? Only republicans are attacked, then others chime in.  NO THINKING on their own.

Good points...  Maybe we need a full blown census of every texas legislator to get their whereabouts. If we want to play this f'n game, let the chips fall where they may.

Ted Cruz, has returned to TEXAS!

Damn, it's been two hours AND I still don't have water is he 'phoning it in'?

People have to remember....   Cruz is a legislator....  Not an administrator.  If  he was governor, mayor, or heading an agency directly involved in the event, we'd have reason to scream.

Oh, for heavens sake, stop saying this is okay, even the optics, because Cruz is irrelevant to finding a solution for the people of Texas.  This is not very helpful for the man's stature.

This is a  crisis gone to waste.  It would have been a perfect opportunity for Cruz to fortify his "man of the people" cred --- to be seen rolling up his sleeves and meeting with the Governor, helping out stranded people while deriding the causes and promising to work with the Governor on solutions.

Or, he could have done nothing but send tweets reminding Texans to stay safe.

Instead, the left has a shiny object to draw attention away from Global Warming and the Green New Deal, and Cruz has painted himself into a tighter corner as an out-of-touch elitist, while Beto the gigolo multimillionaire, is the man of the people.

You're just  as bad as a democrat feeding a false smear attack feeding frenzy. And BTW, he did some Tweets guiding Texans on navigating the cold. Do you also know where all the other legislator are?  Have they been given the same treatment, if not in Texas?

And you still didn't answer my question....  Just what could he have done in Houston, than he couldn't have in Cancun?

I still don't understand the Cruz-hate, especially from those who have steadfastly defended Donald Trump from all the Trump-hate.  Seems hypocritical.

If this is Cruz's motivation .. then I salute him.  But I doubt it was.

He made a mistake that reinforces his weak spot:  retail politics.  This is a very bad weak spot to be reinforcing for someone who will announce his candidacy for the Presidency again.

What makes you think he will run for president again?   I don't.   I think a lot of GOPers are bagging it ....if not officially, unofficially..... since the game is obviously rigged against them and since the majority of GOPers obviously don't have the balls to stand up and speak out against the commies.   Instead of circling the wagons like the rats always do, they form a circular firing squad and shoot at their own.... every effing time.   Can't blame the ones that are "disenchanted".

You misunderstand.  This is not "Cruz hate".  Those being honest are simply wondering how a politician with such a shallow bond with the people he needs to vote for him could make this kind of optics mistake.  (And he should fire whoever on his staff came up with the "being a good dad" defense.)

He'd have gone a long way to ending this debate had he come home and issued this statement:   "This is not the right time to leave the people of Texas. My family will remain in Mexico for a week without me.  ...  I will be meeting with Gov. Abbott (fill in the blank) to discuss what we can do to fix this for all Texans and how I can best help at the federal level".

You could be right.  If this is the case, then Cruz should've/would've stayed in Mexico and enjoyed his vacation.

My only concern with his travels is the 2x4 Cruz has given his opponents to beat him with.

And further to that.... why is it just Cruz being singled out for criticism???   Just the usual anti-Cruz BS (my guess).   Me?  I'd be ready to say screw the optics... especially when BS like this keeps getting thrown his (our) way.

A reasonable explanation, thanks!  The disagreement, if it can be called that, is about the "optics."  Why are Republicans the only ones accused of being bad at it?  With a press pre-programmed to bay at any conservative about optics, I can see why they do it, but why do we chime in?

As @corbe mentioned, why did 400K Trump voters turn against Cruz to support Beta-boy?  Do they believe the "Lyin' Ted" trope?

Why are you believing @corbe  claiming 400k Trump voters supported Beta-boy?  This is bullshit and I, for one, am damn sick and tired of it being spewed when Corbe's in the mood.    No Trump supporter supported Beto.

Must we *again* relive the 2016 convention and the wound Cruz self-inflicted into his own political career?  Had it not been for the President AND his supporters Cruz would be well on his way to retiring from Wegmans.
