Report: Lincoln Project Co-Founders Knew About Allegations Against Weaver Months Earlier

Last week the Lincoln Project published private messages between a former member named Jennifer Horn and a reporter for a site called The 19th on Twitter. Those private messages were quickly pulled down after another former member of the group, George Conway, suggested their publication looked to him like a crime.

Today, the story that The 19th had been working on was co-published by USA Today. The site spoke to nearly two dozen current and former employees and put together a picture of an organization rife with infighting and self-dealing. The group, which started with 8 co-founders, began to fall apart last August.

Last week, co-founder Steve Schmidt resigned from the group’s board and apologized for publishing Horn’s private messages. But according to Schmidt, he didn’t know anything about allegations of sexual harassment against co-founder John Weaver until they were published two months after the election. But the 19th reports that members of the group’s leadership had been told about Weaver’s predatory behavior seven months earlier and that prior to the election it was an open secret:

This puts, "When did LP leaders know?" in June or July, 2020.

Behold the power of released NDAs. The website 19th News reports that several sources now say that the The Lincoln Project’s leadership knew about Weaver’s issues months longer than previously acknowledged. Instead of June, as John noted as late as yesterday, the timeline has now shifted to March — and contradicts Steve Schmidt:

A second teenager has accused ousted Lincoln Project co-founder John Weaver of “aggressively” sexually harassing him, according to the journalist who initially broke the story.

The second minor accuser comes on the heels of a New York Times report from Jan. 31 that Weaver — who helmed the anti-Trump super PAC — sexually harassed a 14-year-old boy.

“I am here to say that I have made contact with another minor who was sexually harassed by John Weaver,” reporter Ryan Girdusky said Monday on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

Since the one founding "principle" that united LP "leaders" was "Trump Bleeped Me and I Hate Him", I suspect some founder-leaders were at least somewhat aware of Weaver's predilections well before the LP was formed.
