Lou Dobbs Responds at Fox News After His Show Is Cancelled

After being unexpectedly fired by Fox News, anchor Lou Dobbs has responded to the news of his firing from the network.

Lou Dobbs Tonight was canceled after Smartmatic announced it was filing a lawsuit against Fox and several hosts including Dobbs.

The network responded by saying, “FOX News Media is committed to providing the full context of every story with in-depth reporting and clear opinion. We are proud of our 2020 election coverage and will vigorously defend against this meritless lawsuit in court.”

After Fox announced that Dobbs’ show was canceled, President Trump sent a heartwarming message to him.

Dobbs responded by thanking Trump for the support.

“Thanks for your kind words Mr. President. God bless you and all the American patriots who make this country great,” he wrote.

Since he's still under contract, nobody can tell if he's being quiet or not.  Seems to me his show would be a major feature of that contract, and Fox is in violation of the agreement.

It's odd as hell.  I never listened to Lou Dobbs much a decade or more ago... mostly because a rabidly leftist female I knew on one of the rabidly leftist forums was an avid fan of his.  I figured if she likes him, I would, necessarily, loathe him.  And sure enough, back then, he sounded like a leftie to me.   Something must have changed over time if he was considered, by Fox, to be right-leaning...and yeah, I should have checked him out more recently.

Lou Dobbs took a firm stand against illegal immigration back then, and when he was ostracized for it he realized he'd better take a look at other conservative positions.

Before that, I too considered him a liberal.

It would be very interesting to know how all these contracts are worded, because we may be seeing similar issues with Carlson, Levin, Watters, Guttfield, and Hannity.

Out of that group of vocal conservatives, besides Carlson, I figured Dobbs would be the least likely to be axed, due to his well respected financial accumen.   Now I see it as a slow motion wreck with the purge complete by 2023.

With the Murdock sons running Fox News, it is only a matter of time before all conservatives are handed pink slips.  They are following the self destructive path of CNN. 

I see CNN going away as it is formatted now.  Fox is just one step behind.  With no truth, there is no future.

I have wondered why they even stick around for that pink slip.   Thought they might be gutless wonder sellouts, too.   But... it could be so they can sue Faux if/when they get unfairly fired (censored/silenced) the same way.   And I would sue the bloody HELL out of them.

6 month non-competes are standard for broadcast contracts.  What is unusual is that they won't release him from his contract so he can see employment elsewhere.

It's a really petty move on FNC's part.  Shows how scared they are of their current ratings situation too.

I think he has a good case for a breach of contract. I guess NY has a law concerning non-compete clauses, too.

I agree it's a dick move, trying to hold him to a contract. There will be hollering by free-speech advocates.

Good point.

The way I see it, Fox has two choices:
1. Pay Dobbs per his contract, but don't put him on the air (essentially paying him for NOT working),
or
2. If his contract contains a buyout or escape clause, pay him to leave.

Perhaps option #1 is cheaper (for Fox)...

Problem is... the first option is destroying his career and his reputation (being silenced merely for being a Trump supporter).

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.   We will get a glimpse and a hint of just how serious the RL is in their hatred of us and their intentions going forward.
