No, conservatives shouldn’t quit the Republican Party

By Rich Lowry

February 4, 2021 | 5:25pm | Updated

After losing a national election, it’s natural that a political party goes through a period of soul-searching and internal turmoil.

The Republican Party, though, has taken it to another level.

President Donald Trump brought most of the GOP along for the ride during his outlandish, conspiracy-fueled attempt to overturn the election, ending in the Jan. 6 riot at the US Capitol.

His loyalists have since been scouring the landscape searching for Republicans to censure or primary for insufficient loyalty to Trump during this interlude or his resulting second impeachment.

The most famous Republican House freshman mused not too long ago about a space laser associated with the Rothschilds starting the 2018 California wildfires, forcing an embarrassing debate about whether to sanction her.

And Trump has maintained his hold on the party seemingly effortlessly. He’s been deplatformed by social-media companies and hasn’t done TV interviews, and still, you’d think he were running a highly polished 24/7 political operation, rather than relaxing at Mar-a-Lago.

This dismaying chapter has predictably led to declarations that the party is doomed and calls to split it up.

Lowry has it wrong on many accounts but IMHO he is correct that the GOP is doomed not because of the conservatives players (that will be tossed out anyways) but because of the GOP establishment players such as Romney, Murkowski, Collins and others as well as the continued FAILED leadership under McConnell.  You can't have a team when the players fail time and time again to fully support the team that they are on.

The DEMS will continue to change rules and laws in order to ensure that the GOPe marches to the beat of their drums and they will march in fear of losing their seats and could give a darn about what they are doing to this Republic and will continue to thumb their noses at their constituents.

Yes, the GOP is fractured, continues to crumble and will eventually become nothing more than a pile of rubble. The Romneys and McConnells will crumble right along with it., and maybe then we can somehow restore this Great Country.

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Sorry Rich, I’m with Roamer on this now. Nothing short of an epic seismic shift can save the GOP now.

Once in a blue moon, you see significant  shifts in your political leanings and beliefs.

The past month is one of those times for me.  From impeachment, to Liz-Marjorie debacle, I have changed my position on the 3rd party issue.  The mainstream GOP has completely abandoned conservatives into a limp wicked feckless bowl of goo. They have captiualted to their democratic masters, and slithered back to swamp status in earnest.

I was firmly against forming and supporting a 3rd party.....   That is all changing now.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.
