NAYPYITAW, Myanmar (AP) — Myanmar’s military staged a coup Monday and detained senior politicians including Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi — a sharp reversal of the significant, if uneven, progress toward democracy the Southeast Asian nation has made following five decades of military rule.

An announcement read on military-owned Myawaddy TV said Commander-in-Chief Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing would be in charge of the country for one year. It said the seizure was necessary because the government had not acted on the military’s claims of fraud in November’s elections — in which Suu Kyi’s ruling party won a majority of the parliamentary seats up for grabs — and because it allowed the election to go ahead despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The takeover came the morning the country’s new parliamentary session was to begin and follows days of concern that a coup was coming. The military maintains its actions are legally justified — citing a section of the constitution it drafted that allows it to take control in times of national emergency — though Suu Kyi’s party spokesman as well as many international observers have said it amounts to a coup.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Biden briefed on Myanmar situation, US ‘alarmed,’ White House says
NY Post, Feb 1, 2021

The US is “alarmed” about reports that Myanmar’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi was detained in a military raid, the White House said Sunday.

President Biden has been briefed on the developments in the Southeast Asian nation, which appear to be part of a bid by the military to seize power.

“The US is alarmed by reports that the Burmese military has taken steps to undermine the country’s democratic transition,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement.

“We continue to affirm our strong support for Burma’s democratic institutions and … urge the military and all other parties to adhere to democratic norms and the rule of law, and to release those detained today.”

She added: “We are monitoring the situation closely and stand with the people of Burma, who have already endured so much in their quest for democracy and peace.”

Burma is the former name of Myanmar.

The reported arrests of Suu Kyi, President Win Myint and other senior members of the ruling party in a raid early Monday came after days of escalating tensions between the civilian government and the military.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Suu Kyi, 75, came to power in 2015, following a decades-long struggle against military rule.

Under the country’s constitution, the military gets an unelected 25 percent of seats in parliament and also controls three key ministries in Suu Kyi’s administration.

Military officials stirred fears of a coup last week after claiming the nation’s November election was fraudulent and threatening to “take action.”

Myanmar’s election commission has rejected the military’s allegations of vote fraud.

A woman did her regular aerobics class out in open without realizing that a coup was taking place in #Myanmar. A Military convoy reaching the parliament can be seen behind the woman as she performs aerobics. Incredible!

Funny how one picture can adjust an opinion.  90% of us barely knew Myanmar even existed, much less she was a puppet of the Muzzie POTUS.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Jack Posobiec tweets:

BREAKING: US State Dept has formally declared the Myanmar takeover a coup, will cut foreign assistance

Weak statement from Biden State Dept on Burma. Everyone knows it’s a coup. No press conference even. Does Tony Blinken have stage fright? This White House is terrified of CCP. Totally soft.

Military coup of Burma while Biden asleep at the switch and Blinken afraid to stand up to CCP. This is where 'strategic patience' gets you. Pray for the Rohingya people.

I call on Burma’s military to immediately release the civilian political leaders of the country and turn back from this abyss. We need to support the people of Burma in their journey toward democracy and impose costs on those who stand in their way. My full statement:

China has keen to expand its interests in Myanmar, both as offering a strategic advantage over its arch enemy India and as an access to the Indian Ocean.

Although I have not yet seen any American news source mention this as a reason for the recent coup it would make perfect sense. It would explain the administration's desperate condemnation of it.

Yep, that one video of Fulton County unilaterally confirmed the suspicions of all that election fraud occurred, but we were told to not believe our lying eyes.

So does China invade to re-install the puppet government? China could basically just control all elections if the puppets insisted on computer voting.
