‘It’s a mess’: Biden’s first 10 days dominated by vaccine mysteries

Joe Biden promised he’d bring in a competent, tested team to run the pandemic response, set ambitious vaccination targets and impose strict public health guidelines.

His team arrived at the White House with a 200-page response plan ready to roll out. But instead, they have spent much of the last week trying to wrap their hands around the mushrooming crisis — a process officials acknowledge has been humbling, and triggered a concerted effort to temper expectations about how quickly they might get the nation back to normal.

After a week on the job, Biden’s team is still trying to locate upwards of 20 million vaccine doses that have been sent to states — a mystery that has hampered plans to speed up the national vaccination effort. They're searching for new ways to boost production of a vaccine stockpile that they've discovered is mostly empty. And they're nervously eyeing a series of new Covid-19 strains that threaten to derail the response.

Let me put this in simple terms using the Friday AM data from https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations :

* Pfizer, Moderna, and the Feds have distributed 49.2M doses to the various states on a fairly balanced per capita basis; having observed the updates of the data, ~1M doses are being distributed per day;

* These 49.2M doses are under state and local control, not the Feds;

* The states have administered 27.88M doses, the mysterious 20 million dose gap;

* Some states are doing extremely well, e.g. SD and ND, 78.65% and 84.8% respectively; others are right around the national average.

OWS let the states know the vaccines were coming months before approval (early September that I know of). The states have no excuse for not having their @#$% together! Maybe Biden, Kammy, the MSM and many states' governors should have prepared rather than undermining and casting doubt on the "Trump Vaccines"!

Biden, Kammy, and his "experts" are probably the worst possible people for figuring out what is going on.

I know more about how it can affect people, but as a whole, no. That it's real and can be much worse than "the worst flu you've ever had" I've understood all along.

An example of knowing more is that the fever, one of the simple bureaucratic diagnostics, can be intermittent. Depending on when and how often one checks one's temp, a period of fever could be missed or dismissed as an unreliable thermometer (BTDT).
