THE EU was cracking up amid Covid vaccine chaos last night after desperate Hungary broke ranks to grab its own supplies - from the UK and Russia.

Brussels has insisted on negotiating for life-saving drugs on behalf of its 27 member states - with disastrous results which sparked shortages and distribution chaos.

But Hungarian leaders maddened by endless delays have now clinched a back door deal with Vladimir Putin to buy the Russian coronavirus vaccine, Sputnik V.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff confirmed approval had been given to the Russian jab and a contract for two million doses was signed.

Early results from trials of the Russian vaccine have allegedly shown promising results - but worrying side effects were also reported amid fears Putin’s boffins rushed it into production.

Hungarian health officials have also unilaterally approved the UK’s Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine - bypassing Brussels again. ...

1. Welcome to the Wonderful World of Uber-Centralized Government.

2. I haven't followed the Sputnik V vaccine, but I think it's under-tested compared to Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca (and probably compared to J & J's and Novavax's, which probably won't apply for EUA for another month or two).

3. Independently approving AstraZeneca was a right move. It's well-tested, including multiple ethnic groups (DNA matters in medications, sometimes), and many less bureaucracy-bound countries have approved and started using it. I suspect that AstraZeneca not having FDA EUA is at least partly (or largely) by AstraZeneca's choice. AstraZeneca's vaccine is far more suited to countries with less excellent transportation, storage, and handling than are Pfizer's and Moderna's.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Hungary is looking pretty good about now. At least they're standing up for their own interests. I visited Budapest in 1987, when it still was under the Soviet thumb. Empty shelves, sad-looking people - but fantastic food.

Now they seem to be giving the EU the single digit salute:

Hungary keeps deporting migrants, EU border guard turns blind eye - NGO
By Marton Dunai

BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungary has ignored complaints about its practice of escorting undocumented immigrants back across the border to Serbia without due process, a watchdog group said on Tuesday after it raised the alarm about the ongoing human rights violations.

Hungary’s nationalist government has long taken a tough stance on migrants and asylum seekers entering the European Union, an issue that has contributed to a sharp souring of relations with some EU partners.

The European Court of Justice ruled in December that Hungary had broken EU laws on protecting migrants by denying them asylum and forcibly deporting them. Hungary is an EU member but Serbia is not.

Since then, police data show Hungary has “escorted back” 2,346 undocumented immigrants, while it detained and started proceedings against only 120 people - meaning its primary method remained swift expulsion. ...

As a result, the EU's border agency is "suspending operations":

Frontex suspends operations in Hungary following EU top court ruling
PUBLISHED: Wed, 27 Jan 2021 23:21:08 GMT
Reuters

BRUSSELS, Jan 27 (Reuters) – The European Union’s border agency, Frontex, on Wednesday suspended its operations in Hungary following a ruling by the EU’s top court that the country had broken EU laws on protecting vulnerable migrants and refugees, Frontex said.

“Following the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) decision and after legal assessment and relevant consultations, Frontex has decided to suspend all its operational activities on the ground in Hungary,” the agency said.

“Frontex looks forward to resuming its activities in Hungary after the CJEU decision is implemented in national legislation,” the agency said in a statement.

The suspension, which is likely to be in force until Hungary is again compliant with EU immigration laws, means about 40 Frontex staff including border guards will return to their home units, in Hungary or other EU countries. ...

  • I don't believe in Trump anymore, he's an illusion
This is why the people of Hungary love Orban, he puts the Hungarian people and Hungary first and refuse to let the EU inflict their moslem migration and failed policies. As Trump put America first Orban puts Hungary first!

Brexit has created a tidal wave against EU, just like TEXIT will against the US.
No punishment, in my opinion, is too great, for the man who can build his greatness upon his country's ruin~  George Washington
