Biden moves to block oil and gas leases on public land and in New Mexico that could be a big problem

John SextonPosted at 8:30 pm on January 23, 2021

This week the Biden administration put a 60-day hold on new oil and gas leases on public lands. While this is only temporary at the moment, the expectation is that this moratorium will become permanent sometime soon. This shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone who has been paying attention because Biden promised prior to the election that he would do this. Here it is from his own climate plan page [emphasis added]:

Quote
Protecting America’s natural treasures by permanently protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other areas impacted by President Trump’s attack on federal lands and waters, establishing national parks and monuments that reflect America’s natural heritage, banning new oil and gas permitting on public lands and waters, modifying royalties to account for climate costs, and establishing targeted programs to enhance reforestation and develop renewables on federal lands and waters with the goal of doubling offshore wind by 2030.

Why is this a problem?  Biden is doing exactly what everyone knew he would do.  New Mexico should be ecstatic.  They are getting exactly what they voted for.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

Panic Has Struck a Blue State Now That Biden's Taking Aim at Fracking

One of Joe Biden's first acts as president was to sign a 60-day moratorium on new oil and natural gas leases and drilling permits. It's one way the administration plans to tackle the "climate change crisis." But Americans are already feeling the negative effects of the decision.

New Mexico, one of the most productive oil and gas areas in the country, is worried about the moratorium. The natural energy industry's success impacts everything, down to education and government-funded programs.

Industry insiders have said this regulation means the entire regulatory process shuts down, including normal day-to-day activities "routine requests that arise during the normal course of business to requests for rights of way for new pipelines designed to gather more natural gas as part of efforts to reduce venting and flaring," the Associated Press reported.

The majority of New Mexico's production takes place on federal lands. Oil and gas companies pay hundreds of millions in royalties each year to frack. The concern with the new order, however, is that energy companies could move to Texas where there is no reliance on federal lands to obtain energy.

It's a problem.... because they, like many millions of others in America....

are too ignorant to know what they are actually voting "for" when they vote against someone.

And yeah, I have fallen victim to the same stupidology (voted for Bush twice, McCain once and Romney once).   So I confess....I, too, was stuckonstupid....four times!.  Hopefully, that condition is all in the past now.    888mouth

The sublime irony is..... after four years of Gropy & Heels Up policies.... they will be wishing like hell that they had voted for another term of Trump.   But no, they wanted it.  They're gonna get it.  Good & hard.
