Isn't that typical of the NYT (and the rest of the leftist news media, for that matter)? Michael Leach is a common enough name, and they don't even bother to verify which Michael Leach it may have been. Verifying facts before publishing them is too old school, I guess.
It's funny that this story was written by Sam Amico, with whom I briefly worked at a small city newspaper (he was in sports, I was in news, so we never interacted) - the newspaper where the commandment to publish only verified facts was drummed into us. Writers who didn't comply didn't last very long.
