Assuming Pence did have authority to send the electors back to the states I wonder if he had would Wednesday have turned out any differently?

We'll never know,  because he folded to his new masters like a cheap suit.

Decade's only a year old, and he's already clinched the Title "whimp of the decade"

I don't see how he can look his family in the eyes when he gets home.

I expected it.  I also expect that when the Senate votes on articles of impeachment -- Trump will be impeached and Mike will vote for his impeachment.

Traitor Mike cannot vote on that. No tie possible on a 67% vote. It's math.

What if Linzy can't find his testicles, and 99 senators show up?

And again thank you. TBR is the best.  In fact I have posted here more in 4 years than I did at FR for 16 years.  This place is that superior.

Ok ... but there is not a whole lot of loyalty for Trump; those that held on to his coattails for votes already got them.

They have enough GOPe that will vote for impeachment; Mittens, Murkowski, Collins, and probably Lee, Graham and McConnell.  Sasse as well.

What's fascinating to me is I know people who were OK with Trump but voted for Hillary because of Traitor Mike.

With all due respect, they simply don't have enough time.  There are six working days left until the inauguration.

Traitor Pence can commit the Coup de Gras on his own any day now.

Exactly.  It's within his power and Pelosi has already called on him to do so.

Are you referring to Amendment XXV?  Again, not enough time.  There would be a court fight on whether 'Acting' Cabinet members (i.e. not confirmed by the Senate) had a voice in this.  And of course the Dems would want Chao to have a vote even though she already resigned.  It ain't gonna happen.

Note that there is nothing in Amendment XXV that actually removes the President from office.  It only makes the VP 'Acting President'.

Is it a "virtual" (I hate that inaccurate term) inauguration, or not?

@mountaineer

Since Slow Joe is a babbling fool that can't be relied on to stay on-script,it is pretty much going to HAVE to be a virtual swearing in.

They will pretty much have to Keep It Simple because of Stupid.

No,  I'm not steamed,  I'm saddened.    Think about how different things would be today if he had conceded, even if grudgingly,  and told his followers that the good fight wasn't over and he would be back.   He could then have focused on Georgia to preserve his policy legacy,  and by participating in an orderly transition of power could have preserved his personal legacy, and options for the future.

This is truly a tragedy,  of a man undone by his own hand.   He will be hounded by wolves,  I fear, for the rest of his days.

I am chagrined by how much he fooled me.   I thought the Dems'  panicked fears about his stability and intentions were partisan nonsense.  I guess I was  wrong.  I thought he was always a well-intentioned man,  who blustered and took good counsel grudgingly but in the end followed advice and thought first of the nation.   I guess I was wrong about that too.

I think resignation is the best of the bad choices out there.   I am sorry that it has come to this.

@Jazzhead

BS squared is still a block of BS.

@Cyber Liberty

Pence was on the ticket to pull in the Bible Thumper vote due to the "righteous" being offended over Trump's divorces.
