Wednesday’s agreement brings the total number of doses to be delivered to the United States to 200 million.
Reuters does not mention it, but this was a
partial exercise of the option in the July 22, 2020 contract. Not a response to fauxny story that Trump refused to buy more of the Pfizer vaccine. There are similar options in the July and August purchase contracts with the several vaccine companies;
part of the option in the Moderna contract has also been exercised, for an additional 100M doses.
