Below a South Texas twilight, a smile gleamed from the face of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz. The antlers of the biggest deer he’s ever harvested were in his hands.

Earlier this month, Cruz used a Kimber .308 to shoot a mature 8-point buck while on a three-day hunt at a ranch north of Laredo. The Texas Republican said the deer was scored at 172.

The snapshot of that harvest was posted on social media and immediately inspired an avalanche of anti-hunter rhetoric.

That looks good on Cruz... Doesn't look forced like it did with Kerry in his attempts to look redneck.

Nope. You ain't in Texas. So it's a 4 pointer where you're at. It ain't counted that way in Laredo. There is no right or wrong. Only different ways of doing things.
